Lehi, Utah, Aug. 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CancerVax, Inc., the developer of a breakthrough universal cancer treatment platform that “tricks” the body’s immune system into fighting cancer, welcomed news about the recent positive Phase 3 clinical trial results from Moderna and Merck’s INTerpath-001 study of a personalized cancer vaccine for melanoma based on LNP-mRNA technology. The Company believes these results de-risk the mRNA technology used in its own non-personalized, off-the-shelf cancer vaccines currently in pre-clinical development.
LNPs (lipid nanoparticles) and mRNAs (messenger ribonucleic acids) form the foundation of both the Moderna/Merck vaccine and the CancerVax platform. The INTerpath-001 readout demonstrates that an mRNA-based approach can help mobilize the immune system against cancer.
Personalized cancer vaccines are a new generation of cancer treatments that take samples from patient tumors and genetically sequence them to create custom single-patient therapies in a lab. They are then injected back into patients to induce brand-new immunities against cancer. However, industry analysts and health economists estimate that this highly personalized treatment will likely carry a steep price tag and be challenging to scale.
CancerVax is pursuing a fundamentally different architecture that does not rely on creating an individualized treatment for every patient.
