Expanded Broadens Use of ALZpath's Proprietary pTau217 Antibody Technology Across the Quanterix Simoa® Research Portfolio
CARLSBAD, Calif., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ALZpath, Inc., a leader in blood test-based diagnostic solutions for Alzheimer's disease, today announced the expansion of its licensing agreement with Quanterix Corporation. The expanded agreement broadens the use of ALZpath's proprietary pTau217 antibody technology on Quanterix's Simoa® research platform, supporting continued innovation as the field advances toward increasingly precise blood-based approaches to understanding Alzheimer's disease pathology.
The expanded agreement builds on the original 2023 agreement when Quanterix selected ALZpath's antibody to create the Simoa® ALZpath pTau217 Assay for use on Quanterix's Simoa® platform. The assay has since been used extensively in neurodegenerative disease research, appearing in 161 peer-reviewed publications. In December 2025, a landmark population study published in Nature used the Simoa® ALZpath pTau217 Assay to demonstrate the value of deploying pTau217 blood tests at scale and their potential to advance the understanding of global Alzheimer's disease prevalence and next-generation treatments.
The expanded agreement extends the use of ALZpath's pTau217 antibody into emerging areas of Alzheimer's disease biomarker research, where advances in biomarker biology and analytical technology are enabling researchers to pursue increasingly specific measures of disease-associated pathology. By combining ALZpath's proprietary antibody technology with Quanterix's established Simoa® platform and extensive installed base of research systems, the companies aim to support the continuing evolution of blood-based biomarker tools for diagnosis, disease monitoring, and treatment development.
"Since entering into our agreement with Quanterix, we've seen the Simoa ALZpath pTau217 assay become a foundational tool across global Alzheimer's research," said Mike Banville, Chief Executive Officer of ALZpath. "This expanded agreement builds on that progress. As the science continues to evolve, we believe combining advances in biomarker biology with increasingly sensitive analytical technologies can unlock new opportunities for researchers and ultimately deepen our understanding of Alzheimer's disease."
This expansion reinforces ALZpath's core mission to partner with industry leaders to scale high-performance antibodies across research and clinical applications, making accessible blood-based Alzheimer's testing a global reality.
