SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., November 14, 2024 -- ALX Oncology Holdings Inc., ( ALX Oncology or the Company ) (Nasdaq: ALXO), a clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing therapies that boost the immune system to treat cancer in new ways and extend patients' lives, announced today the appointment of Alan Sandler, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Sandler's breadth of experience and demonstrated leadership capabilities across oncology and drug development, as well as his in-depth knowledge of ALX Oncology while he was a member of our Board, will be instrumental in helping us achieve our near- and longer-term objectives, said Jason Lettmann, Chief Executive Officer at ALX Oncology. He is the ideal leader to advance the clinical development of evorpacept, our investigational lead compound, into late-stage clinical trials. Dr. Sandler's expertise spans clinical development and operations, regulatory affairs, drug safety and development strategies. He previously held the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer at Mirati Therapeutics, prior to its acquisition by Bristol Myers Squibb in early 2024. Before joining Mirati, Dr. Sandler was the President, Global Head of Development in Oncology at Zai Lab. Prior to that, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, where he ultimately served as Senior Vice President and Global Head, Product Development of Oncology Solid Tumors. Dr. Sandler's academic positions include roles at Oregon Health and Science University, where he served as Professor of Medicine and Head of the Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology and Medical Lead of the Thoracic Oncology Program; Vanderbilt University as an Associate Professor of Medicine and Indiana University as Assistant Professor of Medicine.
