NameTypeDescription
IndomethacinDRUGIndomethacin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which is commonly used to reduce inflammation caused by gout, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It acts by blocking the cyclo-oxygenase 1 and 2 (COX) receptors. It has also been implicated to prevent post-ERCP pancreatitis
Lactated Ringer's SolutionDRUGLactated ringer's solution (LR), is an intravenous fluid (IVF) used commonly during endoscopic procedures and operative procedures. It's composition is similar to that of humans including sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium and lactate. Studies have implicated the use of this fluid in pancreatitis treatment and prevention of post-ERCP pancreatitis
Normal SalineDRUGstandard IVF would include 0.9% normal saline (NS) solution used during all endoscopic procedures. 0.9% NS includes equal parts sodium and chloride.
PlaceboDRUGPlacebo would be a suppository 50 mg x 2

Frequently asked questions about Lactated Ringer's

What is Lactated Ringer's used for in Post-ERCP Acute Pancreatitis?

Lactated Ringer's is being studied for the prevention of Post-ERCP Acute Pancreatitis, a complication that can occur after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). It is an investigational small molecule in Phase 3 clinical development for this indication.

Who makes Lactated Ringer's?

Lactated Ringer's is being developed by The Cooper Companies, Inc. (NYSE: COO). The company is conducting clinical research to evaluate the drug's potential in preventing Post-ERCP Acute Pancreatitis.

What phase is Lactated Ringer's in?

Lactated Ringer's is in Phase 3 clinical development for Post-ERCP Acute Pancreatitis. It is an investigational drug and has not been approved for this use. One Phase 3 trial has been completed.

What clinical trials is Lactated Ringer's in?

Lactated Ringer's has one completed Phase 3 trial, NCT02641561, titled 'Lactated Ringers With or Without Rectal Indomethacin to Prevent Post-ERCP Pancreatitis.' The trial enrolled 192 participants and was not randomized or double-blinded.

Is Lactated Ringer's the same as Ringer's lactate?

Lactated Ringer's is commonly known as Ringer's lactate solution. It is a balanced crystalloid fluid used in medical settings. In the context of this clinical development, it is being evaluated for preventing Post-ERCP Acute Pancreatitis.
