An adverse event (AE) was any unfavorable and unintended sign (including an abnormal assessment such as an abnormal laboratory value), symptom, or disease temporally associated with the use of a medicinal (investigational) product, whether or not related to the medicinal (investigational) product. An SAE was any untoward medical occurrence that at any dose resulted in death, in the view of the Investigator, placed the participant at immediate risk of death, required inpatient hospitalization or prolongation of existing hospitalization, resulted in persistent or significant disability/incapacity, resulted in a birth defect. TEAEs were defined as AEs occurring or worsening after beginning study treatment (after the first dose).
An AE was any unfavorable and unintended sign (including an abnormal assessment such as an abnormal laboratory value), symptom, or disease temporally associated with the use of a medicinal (investigational) product, whether or not related to the medicinal (investigational) product.
As measured by at least 2 standard deviation (SD) below Italian normative data of the Rao's Brief Repeatable Battery of Neuropsychological Tests (BRB) and a 100-item version of the Stroop Test. The Brief Repeatable Battery of Neuropsychological Tests (BRB-N) is a sensitive measure of cognitive impairment in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. The Stroop Test is a test used to measure a person's sustained attention for word reading and color naming with and without interference.

Dimethyl Fumarate is used for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis, and primary progressive multiple sclerosis. It is also studied in healthy volunteers. The drug is being developed by Biogen Inc. (BIIB) and is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
Dimethyl Fumarate targets KEAP1, acting as an inhibitor of this protein. KEAP1 is a regulator of the Nrf2 pathway, which is involved in cellular antioxidant responses. By inhibiting KEAP1, Dimethyl Fumarate may modulate oxidative stress and inflammation, which are relevant to multiple sclerosis pathology.
Dimethyl Fumarate is developed by Biogen Inc., a biotechnology company traded on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol BIIB. Biogen is conducting clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Dimethyl Fumarate in multiple sclerosis indications.
Dimethyl Fumarate is currently in Phase 1 clinical development. Although it has completed Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials, the drug is still considered investigational and not yet approved. It is being studied for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis and other forms of the disease.
Dimethyl Fumarate has completed four clinical trials, including NCT00835770, a Phase 3 extension study in RRMS with 1,736 participants; NCT01156311, a Phase 2 combination study; NCT01838668, a Phase 3 study in Asian subjects with RRMS; and NCT02283853, a Phase 3 pediatric study. All trials are completed.
Yes, Dimethyl Fumarate is also known as Dimethyl. The drug is referred to by both names in clinical research. It is a small molecule being investigated for multiple sclerosis, with completed trials in adult and pediatric populations.
